Moses Aristophanes Kwame Gyasi

MR. M.A.K. GYASI, B.Sc. (Administration), C.A. (Ghana), is currently a Senior Lecturer in accountancy subjects, University of Ghana Business School, University of Ghana, Legon.

 

Mr. Gyasi was educated at Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, and at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he obtained a B.Sc. (Administration degree in June 1970. He was admitted into the membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) in 1976.

 

He has had considerable experience in industry, commerce and academia. He worked as an accountant in various positions with the Electricity Company of Ghana, Tema Shipyard and Drydock Corporation, Kowus Motors Ltd. and as an auditor with KPMG. For almost eight years he was a Principal Lecturer in accountancy subjects and acting head of Department at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Nigeria, two of which were spent as the Deputy Director of the Institute of Management and Vocation, one of the four Institutes within the Polytechnic.

 

He has had the opportunity to offer management consultancy services to a large number of companies and served as a board member of many organisations including some state institutions like the New Times Corporation, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation National Petroleum Tender Board and the GETFund and private ones like the Ghana Integrity Initiative, the local wing of the international non-governmental anti-corruption organisation, the Transparency International and Research International.

 

He is a prolific writer, a social commentator and constantly comments on issues of national interest in the media. He contributes articles in the print media, takes part in discussions on the electronic media as well as delivers lectures at important forums.

 

Mr. Gyasi is the author of the following professional books on accountancy:

(a)     An International Guide to Auditing

(b)     Partnership and Company Accounts

(c)     Management Accounting

(d)     Accounting for the Graduate Non-Accounting Students.

Mr. Kwame Gyasi is married with one daughter.

Madam Augusta Sena Gabianu
Vice Chair

Augusta Sena Gabianu is a retired Principal Secretary, (now designated Chief Director), of the Ghana Civil Service. She worked with Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, Scholarships Secretariat and with Ministry of Agriculture as acting Principal Secretary. Lastly, she served as coordinator and head of the Structural Adjustment Programme Secretariat, SAPSEC, at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. She has a Masters degree in Sociology from West Germany and upon graduation trained as a development worker at the Ministry of Economic Cooperation, BMZ, in Bonn.                                            After early retirement, she worked with the World Bank, first on the Gender programme preparing for the 1995 Beijing World Women’s conference which she attended as technical adviser. Later, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she worked as the Bank’s Laison Officer with UNECA and the OAU, now AU, attending the many conferences including the annual Heads of State summits. Her first assignment at the World Bank was to facilitate the setting up of the Centre for Policy Analysis, CEPA, in Accra. On return from Addis Ababa she worked with Prof. Stephen Addai’s change management team at GIMPA and was a facilitator at its Distance Learning Center. Miss Gabianu serves on the boards of some NGOs helping women and young people with micro-credit facilities. She is an influential member of several civil society organizations including the Ghana Integrity Initiative (local chapter of Transparency International)  She has provided consultancy services to several local and international bodies.
